The application porting support (NA4) group is appointed within the EGEE-III project (Enabling Grids for E-sciencE) in order to provide expertise to scientists who want to run long codes much faster using a new parallel distributed computing pardigm: The Grid.
Modern scientific research often requires bleeding edge methods in order to achieve new knowledgment goals. The GRID is a constantly developing infrastructure which can handle very efficiently tasks which otherwise would take tremendous amount of time to run or even be impossible to carry out.
With the help of on-site developed tools, like GridWay, any user may organize, submit and monitor his job-requests in a easy and very convenient way.
A program calculating Bhabha scattering at High Energy Physics is considered for being ported into the EGEE infrastructure. The program, which is a result of the AITALC project, computes integrated cross sections and its first order quantum corrections for the electroweak Standard Model. The job submission, execution and monitoring are implemented through the GRIDWAY metascheduler. read more...
As an example you can see on the right a random walk tested at our Grid facilities at UCM. Each walk was computed by a node from a set without any user intervention.
