Capoeira is a Brazilian martial art that combines elements of dance, acrobatics and music. It represents not only an incredible self-defense system, but also a complete body-mind training solution. In 2014, UNESCO granted Capoeira a special protected status as "intangible cultural heritage".
Since 2th July 2016 I'm a “Graduado” (black belt equivalent rank in other martial arts) at ABADA Capoeira, the biggest school in the World. ABADA Capoeira, founded in 1988 by Mestre Camisa, is present in more than 40 countries with more than 60,000 students.
In 22th June 2024 I received the last rank that can be achieved outside Brazil, which is equivalent to 3 Dan in other martial arts. For me it was an emotive ceremony as it marked my 20th anniversary in Capoeira.
The philosophy behind our school is a multilevel development, seeking the highest technical and theoretical level through Capoeira as a valuable pedagogical, artistic and cultural resource. Also, ABADA Capoeira expects to contribute to the education in human values such as respect, socialization and freedom.
Moreover, I apply many of the school's principles in the classroom, obtaining a great outcome.
At Madrid, I'm a proud member of the Asociación Rio's managing board. This is a non-profit association founded by my professor (Profesor Gato).
Our objective is to promote the cultural exchange between Brazil and Spain through different activities and projects that are of social interest.
Capoeira is of course one of these.
