Abstract

Loosely-coupled Grid environments, based only on Globus services, allow a straightforward resource sharing, as the resources are accessed by using de facto standard protocols and interfaces, while providing non trivial levels of quality of service. This paper describes the execution of a Bioinformatics application over a highly distributed and heterogeneous testbed. This testbed is composed of resources devoted to EGEE and IRISGrid projects and has been integrated by taking advantage of the modular, decentralized and end-to-end architecture of the GridWay framework. Results obtained from the experiments have been analyzed using a performance model for high throughput computing applications
